Re: 1999 2000 MY - The "Bastards" Draft Info Thread

Owners manual for the 1999 s/v70 serpentine or drive belt has the wrong diagram in it. It shows the -1998 one.

In my 2000 in NA, they deleted the incorrect diagram

FYI , serpentine belt replace interval is 60,000 miles
Correct one here

Re: Air Recirculation Not Working

To fit a replacement rod, you have to remove the servo motor. You have to remove one T10? small Torx screw at the front of the motor and it should slide out. Remember to check the movement of the servo to make sure you fit the arm in the correct position to allow the main cold air flap to open and c...

Re: Air Recirculation Not Working

Sounds like you have covered most of the bases. Does your fan work quietly and strong? Reason I ask is that I had one fan which the motor was not fitted correctly and sat too far back which allowed it to hit the back of the casing and close to the flap. Unlikely but worth a check. If you don't hear ...

Re: Air Recirculation Not Working

Volvos version of manual control (MCC) is only cable operated for temperature dampers via mix doors. The climate system direction and fresh/recirc function are handled by motors like the automatic system (ECC) Hoard those MCC control units like hens teeth. They don’t break often , but they aren’t in...

Re: Electric Climate Control issue 99 V70

This has me baffled. I have spare ECC units, assuming I have the right one, but it is expensive to ship from here unless we are sure the ECC is the likely cause. We tried changing the motor as that is cheap, but I was not convinced in my mind it was the issue and now it has proved the case, but at l...

Re: ECC climate control temp sensor measurements made easier

I don't know if it will work, but let us know if you try it. I agree with you about the difficulty sourcing parts locally. I have had good luck purchasing parts from DigiKey... they will sell small quantities of resistors, LEDs, switches, etc and they have a $5 USPS first class mail shipping option ...

Re: 98 V70 driver's door electric window issue

The issue in this case was a lack of lube on the sliders and an aftermarket switch going bad. I swapped in another used master switch and lubed the sliders and the guides with silicon oil. So far that has been good. The other issue I have had with random issues with items working from the master swi...

Re: 99 V70 T5 cooling fan

Not all the fan shrouds are the same. Turbos have additional bypass vents in the shroud on the LHS below the upper coolant hose. I believe pre-98 may also be slightly different.

Motors however I believe are all the same.

Re: 99 V70 T5 cooling fan

I might have a good one of Shagg but it got crunched pretty hard, 25% chance

Replace that mount hardware with cheap stainless from lowes to make future removals painless. Remember only the top two need removal, the bottoms are slotted

Re: Banjo bolt delete?

Hi J-dawg. Glad you did this. As these vehicles get older, the likelihood of needing to pull the intake manifold for maintenance increases. Some people may be able to replace that banjo bolt without issues; good for them. But I see three benefits of doing a bypass: 1) Go from 4 connections to 2, de...
