This is an update to my other posts about replacing the head gasket. My dad has a Volvo that had a blown head gasket. He said I could have it if I fixed it. It had steam coming from the exhaust, it ran rough, and coolant was mixing in the oil. I had a little experience working on cars, like changing...

I took the dash apart and flexed the circuit board to see if anything changed. It did. When I flex it a bit, everything lights up, and when it's not flexed, nothing lights up. I got it to temporarily work, but it always has these error messages shown. DSC01009.JPG What could cause all of the errors?...

Im working on replacing the radiator right now as it has a leak. I was taking the plastic splash guard thing out from under the radiator and... You'll never guess what fell out when I took it off. A 10mm socket!

I found that it goes on the ac condenser, so that the bolt can hold the radiator and intercooler too it.

When I had a head gasket leak, there were bubbles in the coolant the whole time. It's interesting you have it only at 4k rpm. Maybe a small head gasket leak? Does your exhaust steam at 4k rpm. The test should show if they were exhaust gasses, but since it didnt, maybe the cooling system wasn't burpe...

I drove about 6-7 hours to college, and my volvo worked great! Averaged about 24mpg, which is lower than I expected, but maybe it was becasue the car was full of my stuff. After a summer full of repairs, hopefully it will be reliable until I get home.
