I found the last lost wire, loom branch, it had been lost in the jungle. plugged it in. Started perfectly instantly as though it was all warmed up and never had any problem. Thank you all so very much. Finally, the last piece of the puzzle ! Congratulations; miles of motoring pleasure on the horizon.

Wow! Well done and glad you got there in the end! There would have been a pollution warning for all the blue word smoke coming out of my garage if this had been me!

It’s a 4 speed. Aw55-xx denotes a five speed. Look at the plate in the transmission to confirm. Don’t rely on paperwork and internet for point info like this If you used an aftermarket pnp, they suck Try this test. Drive the car with and without the W button depressed. The reason they did that was to ensure any oxide was cleaned off. If you were worried about that then don't do it. Just give then a good clean.
