Re: New to us 2004 XC70 with coolant in the oil. Likely head gasket, do I need to look out for anything else?

Oh...well I hope you don't have a cracked cylinder wall there. Once the head is off do examine the cylinder walls at the top and look for cracks. If it's just a head gasket you would be very lucky.

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

The endlink/droplink usually is very difficult to torque back and it isn't always apparent that there is still some slack from the nut, the reason is that the stabilizer bar pushes on either side if the whole front isn't lifted off the ground. My axle had a rubber bushing which I diligently made sur...

Re: '07 XC90 3.2 Radiator Replacement Questions

Righto, my alley IF it's the same as S60/V70 P2 NA. I have worked around the P2 radators three times now and have gotten the hang of it. Your biggest enemy is the AC metal pipe it will prevent you from easily placing the radiator in the proper position as it catches on the radiator mounts, which is ...

Re: Exhaust manifold to catalytic converter nuts and studs rust welded

In addition when you have it all out and have a new gasket ready, try to use an abrasive brush or something which can smooth out and remove rust on the exhaust manifold flanges(both towards cat and head) so that a perfect seal is made with the gasket, otherwise you risk having an exhaust leak.

Re: Vida CEM swapping

Hi everybody, I have a V70R MY2004 with a brick-style CEM (30657629). What I want is to crack the PIN and upload it to d5t5 so I can enjoy VDASH even more. What would be the right procedure here? As i understand, the only way to go with this CEM is to read it directly f.e. with an arduino nano usin...

Re: A trick I used to do the B4 servo cover update

I still don't understand what this mod is for or why it is needed? I recall asking the local dealer shop foreman about this for my 00 V70R and he said my car did not need it. It has a 5 speed auto trans. Neil. Last week my '04 developed a flaring 2-3 upshift. Under light throttle it will shift ok, ...

Re: Radio getting hot/cold? Or weak airflow? Your HVAC vent is possibly leaking

All your foam seals are disintegrated from age and heat. I was doing a full HVAC overhaul 2 or 3 years ago, had to replace all the seals. Your best shot is to buy 1/4"x1/2" foam tape, pull the vents and fix it. You'll be washing your hands for the next few days, trying to get rid of the r...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

Not exactly on the Volvo yet, but I spent last night soldering on 40 wires on a test ECM I have in order to program it with my Arduino. Note where I said test ECM. As soon I verify my code works, I will be doing the same on a bricked ECM I have in order to replace my semi-broken one on my car. I als...
