Re: Are there Canadian parts suppliers than can compete price-wise..?
Volvo of Toronto online store is often competitive and offers free shipping on orders above $ 150 I recall. They are pleasant to deal with and helpful on the phone and appreciate if you look up your own part number.

Re: Are there Canadian parts suppliers than can compete price-wise..?
$100 free shipping from VOT. There are other Volvo dealers including in Quebec that offer decent prices. They can be cheaper than VOT but for those of us that have 5% GST VOT charge us the good old 12% HST. Others have lower prices but charge shipping. You would have to try to see what works best fo...

Re: Would it be possible to clear out a gummed up PCV instead of replacement?
The catch tank may be $57, but the pipes are wicked expensive. I have never seen a badly clogged oil separator tank. The bottom outlet and pipe into the drain to the block can be an issue, and the mid pipe into the block also. The rubber pipework is the bigger issue. Look for cracks in the pipes, in...

Re: Would it be possible to clear out a gummed up PCV instead of replacement?
OP is talking about blowing out the PCV without taking everything apart OP - It’s really not feasible. The hoses need to be replaced. It’s not just a matter of plugging but the hoses harden and crack. And the crud that blocks the passages is very hard. Especially at the connection on the bottom of t...

Re: What is this hose on the rack and pinion specifically?
I would hose it down with Fluid Film or ACF-50 to prevent rust from going further.

Re: How do I know which transmission my 07 XC70 has?
If you have an 07 Ps XC70, you have an Aisin trans. If you have an 08 XC70 you have the TC-80SC.

Check this link to Volvo of Toronto. You will see that for a 2007 XC70 the trans is an AW 50/51 trans.

Re: How do I know which transmission my 07 XC70 has?
The TF-80SC is an Aisin Transmission model number - Aisin is the name of a transmission manufacturer - Like Volvo is the name of an Auto manufacturer. I think what you are trying to find out is the model number of the transmission in your 2007 XC70. I am assuming it has an Automatic Transm. From a q...

Re: What is this hose on the rack and pinion specifically?
2007 XC70 Cross Country.. I was advised by a local garage that did an inspection on my car that this hose should be replaced. It's situated at the front of the R&P. Anyone with previous experience changing one of these? What would be the part number or the name. Is it the high pressure hose or ...

Re: Remanufactured steering racks...
Avoid Cardone - anything, not just their racks.
Abscate was working on finding a shop to rebuild his rack, although a chance meeting with a Tesla may have derailed the process.
I think one of his fleet ended up with a Detroit rebuilt unit.
