Re: Air in the brake master cylinder..easy to flush out?
Due to apparent discolouration of the brake fluid and somewhat sponginess of the brakes, I did a brake fluid flush and while I was at it, I replaced all the calipers on my 2007 XC70. When finished bleeding the lines, with no more apparent air bubbles showing up through the clear bleed hose, I start...

Re: Air in the brake master cylinder..easy to flush out?
. It is always best to bench bleed the Master Cylinder and afterwards have the car started and just push the brake pedal all the way down while someone loose and tighten the bleeder screw. Since the late 70's I have never used a device from the top to force fluid through the system. Always did the p...

Re: Air in the brake master cylinder..easy to flush out?
"if you didn't operate the system with the ignition on , running the elec vac pump, there shouldn't be any air in the abs.." I did start the car after I was finished and tested the brakes...would that would that count as "operating the system with the ignition on"? I'm guessing ...

Re: Remanufactured steering racks...
Detroit axle and United rack have supplied me with four racks over the Covid years. All jobs have worked out fine , 3-4 years later.
I have not found a rack rebuilder. My last one in Albany stopped 5 years ago.
I’ll ask at Cars and coffee this month

Re: I can change gears without the key being in the ignition, 2007 XC70
Check the shifter lock cable on the left side of the console, you'll need to take the drivers side trim off the console side. there's a yellow connector block on the end of the cable that attaches it to the shifter that may be broken. Excluding that, the column lock may have something broken where t...

Re: I can change gears without the key being in the ignition, 2007 XC70
Might be the shifter knob button as well. It can break and get jammed causing the rod to always be engaged. I would remove the shifter knob and look inside and check the movement. It's very easy to do just don't accidentally punch yourself square in the mouth like I did when I was removing mine.

Re: I can change gears without the key being in the ignition, 2007 XC70
Is there something broken or that needs adjusting to remedy this? . I'm almost positive the second video in the link will provide enough info on tearing into it and finding the problem. For me the shifter broke and was having a very difficult time going into and out of gears. . (EDIT: Should Be The...

Re: How hard is it to retro-fit headlight wipers? 2007 XC70
And when it empties the reservoir so quick you wish you didn't have that HL wash feature! Now it is even more dangerous bc you are out of washer fluid... I decommissioned my HL pump (simply unplug the relay in the fuse box)...I never look back. PS: I used to live in Montreal so I know the winter the...

Re: How hard is it to retro-fit headlight wipers? 2007 XC70
I believe the bumper cover is different on wiper cars (mine is '04). There is a plastic divot in the bumper below each headlight where the hub of the wiper arm comes through from the backside.

Re: 2007 XC70: What should I know about a turbo-ed engine..?
I'm on my third turbo Volvo wagon. The first one (1984) was the only one that had turbo problems, but it did not come with water cooling to the turbo housing. The 1994 and the 2004 have been mostly trouble free, smooth, and torquey. Great highway distance cars. Naturally aspirated means an engine th...
