Re: Replacing exhaust manifold and gaskets on 96 R. Likelihood of breaking studs?

Most likely you will have no problems with unbolting the manifold from head. Unbolting the turbo from the manifold is totally different beast and usually 2 out of 4 bolts break.(sorry don't remember exactly if you absolutely have to unbolt turbo, but i had issue with turbo to manifold gasket so need...

Re: 2015 XC60 3.2L - No Crank No Start

Question 1- do you still have the old starter motor? If yes- get it tested by qualified shop and see if it is works perfect to begin with. Question 2- where you bought your new starter from? If it was from advance auto or auto zone don't be surprised if they don't work out of the box. You can try to...

Re: 2004 XC70 no start - faulty fuel pump and/or electrical connections?

I think that your fuel pump is likely done. Those 2 big wires on the connector to the plastic cap are 12v supply to the pump. I would spray a contact cleaner there and take a bulb from the headlight (any 2-4 amp light for load would do) and carefully connect it to the corresponding big wires. Make s...

Re: 2004 XC70 no start - faulty fuel pump and/or electrical connections?

Let's do this- let's locate the fuel pump relay. My guess it will be under the hood to the left of the car next to the air cleaner box. The positive cable from trunk will be entering that box. Hopefully the owners manual book or the reverse of the plastic cover of that fuse/relay box will help us id...

Re: 2004 XC70 no start - faulty fuel pump and/or electrical connections?

I think you will have to bite the bullet and open that harness. Rodents will chew the insulation and even the metal of wiring. Moms Golf had steering angle sensing chewed right through I totally agree with above statement. However I would opt not to repair the old one. I would try one of 3 options:...

Re: 2004 XC70 no start - faulty fuel pump and/or electrical connections?

Hard to tell at this point what is going on ... wrap all wires ... with addition of curse towards all rodents ... open the tank and inspect what is going on ... also remove the actual pump from its housing ... create emergency "defibrillator" ... Fingers crossed your issues are fixed. I w...

Re: Sudden Hesitation and Stalling 1999 V70R

I think that you need a good scanner or vida dice and some time to work through those issues. Question if the spike in current or disconnected terminal created short circuit somewhere in electronic system. Incorporating some advice from above: 1. Move car to the area where you can work on it. 2. Rem...

Re: Sudden Hesitation and Stalling 1999 V70R

Another possibility: I think volvo still offers free towing for up to 25 miles to the dealer. In case that helps with bottom line and you want dealer to look at it. In my neck of the woods people sometimes posted on craigslist asking for help with vida dice and I always was a willing person to help ...

Re: Starting problem on '98 S-70

Most likely suspect is low fuel pressure. It can be due to the fact that backflow preventer valve is weak and pressure just dropps to 0psi after you turned off the car and let is stay for an hour or so. Could be fuel pressure regulator being at fault. Could be weak pump or weak Amp at the pump. If I...

Re: '01 Idle Stumble/Surges

I believe you are starting at the wrong end here. You are concentrated on throtle body without first addressing basic maintenance which is well overdue likely given 150k. Spark plugs, fuel and air filter, clean MAF, perform "glove test" for PCV system-it is more reliable than looking for o...
