These pumps can die suddenly. But you can usually motivate them to run again by smacking the fuel tank real good from below with a baseball bat or similar while a helper tries to start the car. It is worth checking Abscates 2nd go at the pump. He found a great way to drop the rear end just enough to access the pump without removing it all. It saves a lot of time. He used some threaded rod to allow the rear to be dropped only so far.
