Re: Fuel filter: WIX 33603 vs 33605

It looks like there are two Wix fuel filters that come up for the 2004 xc70. One is 6.5" long, the other 8.25 inches. Both look to have the same ringed/barbed fuel line connections. Is there a reason to choose one over the other? Do they both fit? I would ask the tech guys at FCP, I'm fairly s...

Re: Fuel filter: WIX 33603 vs 33605

It's good you have a bleed valve there to enable you to remove the line pressure. Start spraying those 2 connectors where the filter goes into them. My mechanic friend had a nightmare getting a similarly or possible worse filter off my friends 02 XC70. The connectors are a dumb design. You have to p...

Re: Fuel filter: WIX 33603 vs 33605

Stainless steel tanks (California thing) have no external fuel filters.

Buy Mahle or Bosch fuel filter from FCP. They also have fuel line repair kits and new bracket.

Re: Electric current needed to stop hyperflashing turn signal bulb?

As you already found out the Volvo test system is very sensitive to bulb loading. The dealer service manager I know says they have lots of issues with people coming in with bulb errors even after they changed the bulb. Fitting a new Volvo supplied bulb fixed the issue. Personally I have not had an i...

Re: Electric current needed to stop hyperflashing turn signal bulb?

HI, I have used 8 Ohm / 25 watt resistors parallel to the LEDs in my daughters car. Its no Volvo, but you need to simulate the current used by the bulb. An indicator bulb of 21W uses +/- 1.75A at 12V. (system is more like 14V so 1.5A). 14V / 1.5A = 9.33 Ohm. 8 Ohm/25 Watt i had laying around here so...

Re: Weird Fuel Pump leak from top of housing?

This is typical failure. If you plan to keep this vehicle a long time, consider replacing the entire fuel pump while you have it open. Then you have no fuel pump worries for a long, long time.

Re: Weird Fuel Pump leak from top of housing?

This is the $10 fix for now. Won't know that it works until tomorrow... PXL_20250323_171042567.jpg Volvo did have a recall on those, oddly only in southern US states, cause-you know, cars never change locations lol. My 2002 with 180,000 miles at the time got a free replacement a few years ago. I wo...

Re: No oil pressure - clogged pickup screen?

When I pulled the oil pan on my 2007 S60 with over 250,000 miles, I was surprised to find o-ring #14 wasn't installed correctly at the factory:

I had the same problem with low oil pressure on a particularly cold day. No more problem with the o-ring replaced.

Re: No oil pressure - clogged pickup screen?

It is also a good time to clean the oil pan and PCV drain passage if you are cleaning the oil pickup and replacing the o-rings.
