Or smack the bottom of the tank with a 2x4 a couple times. That trick works to unstick fuel pumps sometimes.

How much did you put into the tank before it started overflowing? And the week before - different than normal?

That's normal. It keeps it from kicking down harshly when you hit 20 mph into first gear like 'E' mode does.

The gear ratios on this car are pretty useless for engine braking at most speeds I actually drive at.

Vacuum is good! That means the PCV system isn't clogged up.

So you'd done the typical PCV repair and it ended up still smoking? If so, good to know this solves that!
