Re: Restore car paint
Clear coat repair is tricky, time consuming and very easy to mess up... you could sand down the edges of clear coat with 2000-2500 grit, then try to clear coat that whole panel again, but If the edges aren’t perfect, you will have troubles. There might also be a noticeable height difference. For the...

Re: 98 XC: 2 cars, same year and trim, different transmission computers-interchangeable?
TCM from the 1st picture doesn't match the ECU...or...ECU doesn't match TCM. How would you "match" the ECU and TCM? There's no guarantee that all parts are from the same year. My T5 had parts made late 1994, all the way to '96. OP doesn't need to worry what ECU is in the car. The issue is...

Re: 2000 S70 AWD - Seafoam "Spray" treatment
There's a lot of very rigid opinions going on here, without much sources in sight. Seafoam might be kind of aggressive, as rspi says, but it shouldn't really be aggressive against anything but carbon, especially when it comes to things already inside an engine, already made to deal with oil, gas, he...

Re: 2000 S70 AWD - Seafoam "Spray" treatment
850 does not have a ETM like my car and OP's car. If the Old TB cars like the 850 are completely different. The ETM is expensive to replace, so why risk damming a working one with Seafoam? The ETM has a cleaning procedure specified by Volvo that will safely clean it and it does not include Seafoam....

Re: plug in chip for ecu
So has anyone tried any of these plug-in chip upgrades for the ECU ? Seems like a simple way to upgrade ECU performance without having to replace it entirely. Just plugs into the ODB2 port. Is there a downside, other than occupying that port ? Hey. In a lot of newer cars, most engine real time data...

Re: Volvo 850 T-5 K24 won't run. Looking for ideas!
Yeah, what JimBee said. Check that - if it's making you run super rich, then that would account for the symptoms. It'd be good to check that the O2 sensor(s) are working correctly as well, on the heels of that. When my 850 had a milder version of those symptoms, it was the O2, not the MAF. Or a comb...

Re: 1999 v70 white-ish smoke from tailpipe
Unless you're losing coolant without a leak, it's not coolant. That's the crux of this, really - like the others have said, you should fix the known issue to be able to gauge the unknown. All my Volvos have made conspicuous amounts of white "smoke" at times, and it's always been nothing bu...

Re: 850 T5 Blue Smoke after a couple hours of sitting
So now I'm curious - When Sveedy was completely stock I noticed that the stock dash turbo gauge didn't rise above about 3/4 of the way into the white under wot. Now with mods I've made I see the gauge go all the way to the far right, basically burying the needle. Any idea what the stock gauge is ca...

Re: 2018 Volvo S90 T8 plug-in Hybrid - Car & Driver likes it
After many years away, I'm back to Volvo and just bought one of these. '18 S90 T8, Inscription, black with amber interior.
Fingers crossed the S90/V90 forums will be as helpful as the 850 and V70 sections have been in years (and cars) past.

Re: Vcm /v90/gps
Hey Samer. Unfortunately, everything on these need to be reprogrammed (Volvo around here keeps calling it "upgrading" :D ) when replaced. Even just replacing the VCM battery needs a trip to the dealer. Well, at least the electronically connected stuff. You can replace the VCM yourself (it'...
