Replaced Driver's Leather Seat Cover -- 98 V70
The leather on the side bolster just near the kidney had gone through to the foam on my driver's seat. The bottom was starting to get a bit dodgy as well. After striking out on finding suitable replacement seats in the local pick 'n pull, I opted for the Elwood Industries replacement seat covers. Th...

Re: '99 S70 Auto Base, FWD-Steering rack replacement aftermath
Yeah -- so I guess I never updated this thread. It wasn't an air bubble in the power steering fluid. Rather, it was a defective Cardone rack for which FCP refunded my money. I saw another post about one of these on this site today. If you are in the market for a rebuilt power steering rack, I'd stay...

Re: I need pricing help for a 2001 XC70
Here's my thinking on this. Do four transmission drain and fills and an adaptation and see if it improves transmission issues. If so, advertise at $1500. If not, advertise at $1200 and accept $1000. Edited to add:. Understand that with a 2001, you are significantly likely to have a b4 servo cover is...

Considering purchase of 2008 XC70
I'm a P80 and P2 guy, but may be looking at a 2008 XC70. What are the pros/cons -- expensive surprises lurking? Odo is just over 100K.
Any tips you can throw my way I'd appreciate.

Re: Do we change tranny fluid with M56s?
I changed mine with an engine swap at about 229 k. Oil that came out was, according to my mechanic, pristine. He said he wouldn't have changed it. I don't think you'll hurt anything (but I used the ridiculously expensive Volvo gear oil) -- I would have sold Steve my used stuff. . .

Re: 2006 V70 -- Hit Last Night on Commute Home
So to close the loop here, not surprisingly, the car is a total loss. $8,600+ to repair. Initial insurance offer (New Jersey Manufacturers) was $4,200 as total loss settlement. I studied their third-party contractor's valuation and noticed five missing components of value:1) metallic paint, 2) integ...

Re: Ignition Coils, P0171, P0174
Leaking idle air control valve is also a possibility. Took me months to diagnose.

Re: Replacement exhaust
I've have used Bosal replacement systems ordered from FCP. They last about three years on average on the salted winter roads of NJ, but I send them back to FCP for warranty replacement (I'm on my second). They give my '98 V70 5 speed stick a throaty exhaust roar on acceleration, so if you want quiet...
