Re: Vacuum Hose Sizes, Total Lengths, and Sources?
Yes. You may want to get about 8 feet for that alone - I used 3/16" line and got 10 ft and had 2 or 3 left over that I used other places.t5ftw wrote:I assume the hoses connected to TCV are all 4 mm, correct?
The purge valve hoses I don't know about - I'd suspect 6 if the brake booster hose is 8.

Re: Vacuum Hose Sizes, Total Lengths, and Sources?
I managed to replace all the lines from the purge valve to both the intake manifold and the air pipe using fuel line hoses. I used 3/8" from the purge valve to the tee and from the tee to the both check valves, and 11/32" from one of the check valve to the air pipe. I don't recall what siz...

Oh hey.
All the lengths you'll need! For a turbo anyway.

Oh hey. All the lengths you'll need! For a turbo anyway. http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.php/topic/13180-the-silicone-hose-how-to/ I just ordered 8 feet of 4 mm and 3 feet of 3.5 mm from Hose Techniques. Not the kit. I still suspect the hose from intake manifold to turbo is 3.5 mm. I asked the...

Re: sport/econ and winter modes
That's normal. It keeps it from kicking down harshly when you hit 20 mph into first gear like 'E' mode does.
The gear ratios on this car are pretty useless for engine braking at most speeds I actually drive at.

Re: MAF sensor: Faulty return cable?
You have 2 options: 1. If you have a good friend with similar car, then swap the MAF and see what happens. 2. Now if you have condemned the connector, then look closely at it: - Is the wire damaged by rodent chewing on it? - The flat pins of the connector: use very fine sand paper and clean any corr...

Re: 1996 850 turbo, MAF Sensor wiring
Hello fellow Volvoists. I've learned so much already from sites like this that I thought this would be a good place to ask about a very specific issue. So here goes: I have been told by my mechanic that the wiring harness to the MAF sensor on my 96 850 turbo is bad - it keeps throwing off an error ...

Re: 1996 850 turbo, MAF Sensor wiring
Just noticed you have a turbo. That probably means you have a fairly bad induction leak in the path between turbo and cylinder head. When you unplug the MAF, the car goes to a default set of injector firings based on rpm and will run decently, with bad mileage and high emissions. When you plug in go...

Re: 96 850 Turbo Rough idle and die
Whoops... you're right, of course. I don't have the airbox anymore, and can rotate it like that. I guess I forgot how it's actually supposed to be.
