Re: Resetting SRS Airbag light after DIM repair and question about dealing with dealership

Regardless of which way you choose to go from here, make sure you hang onto your original DIM. It has a sticker on the back with a code number. If you are ever so inclined, you can search out another used DIM with the same code number and it should work in your car. The way it was explained to me, i...

Re: Busted control arm, needs new CV Half Shaft too… worth the work?

Do you really need to buy a new axle, or can you re-grease it and install a new boot. I'd look into that possibility way before I'd install a cheap aftermarket unit. Unless it was irreversibly damaged, an OE Volvo (GKN) axle should be good for about 150,000-200,000 miles.

Re: Stuck in Park

With the ignition ON, pump the brake pedal several times in quick succession (you should feel the solenoid clicking in the shift lever) and see if you can then move the shifter. The solenoid and locking pin are located on the front side of the shifter mechanism. You will probably have to remove the ...

Next time it's running rough try wiggling the ECU a little bit to see if that makes a difference.

Re: Came here to research used ETM options - now I'm not so sure

The drivability symptoms "might" point to an ETM issue, but those codes point to other things - a faulty coolant temperature sensor reading (P1620) and a faulty MAP sensor reading (P1103). You may have fixed the P1103 when you repaired the vacuum line. It would be interesting to clear the ...

Re: could I have a bad motor mount?

Have an assistant get in the car, start it, firmly hold the brake, drop it into gear, and give it a little throttle to apply torque to the drive train. See if the engine rocks excessively. Do this in both Drive and Reverse.

(More likely to have new)

Either place can ship to you.

Re: 2006 V70 -- Hit Last Night on Commute Home

Recently my wife was "lightly" rear ended at a stop light while driving her 05 S80. The offending driver was in an older, jacked up, Chevy pickup - a real Georgia "mudder". The truck had extended frame rails in front to accommodate the occasional attachment of a tow bar. One of t...

Re: "SERVICE" light comes on but no codes

That's just a reminder to perform scheduled maintenance, especially an oil change. I believe it pops up every 5000 miles or thereabouts. (I just track of the mileage in the maintenance log and usually end up turning the light off BETWEEN oil changes.) Reset procedure per IPD's web site: 2001 Volvo S...
