Re: Going into park trans.

Check the torque link that attaches the transmission to the subframe. If it's never been replaced, there's a good chance it's rotted out and allowing a lot of movement between gears. As far as the transmission internals go, definitely a good idea to keep the fluid nice and clean. A series of drain +...

Re: 2000 V70XC Exhaust Manifold Lower support

If you have an extra minute, would you mind sending a picture of the manifold you took off, front and back please? I've had credible people tell me that the 2000 XC already comes with the Japanifold. Sorry for the slight-off topic, but I've been trying to figure this out for a while now.

Re: Have a code scanner recommendation?

I bought a $25 Bluetooth OBDII scanner many years ago, hooks up to the Torque app. Pretty easy and and you can see more information that just codes. I like it! Won't do anything super fancy, but very cheap and effective.

Re: V70 Expansion tank coolant problem

Damn... 8 year thread resurrect.

You are right though, that the heater core always has a flow of coolant, regardless of temperature settings. Changing the air to heat will have no effect on purging air from the cooling system.

Re: Hot exhaust fumies

Yeah, it's a car. Literally fire and explosions inside the engine. It doesn't normally take a lot of driving to get all that stuff up to temperature. Unless you're having problems running or codes showing up, I would say you're fine. Putting a hand behind your exhaust and feeling the temperature is ...

Re: Mold smell when I roll down front windows

Can the headliner be removed and replaced, allowing me to check for mold underneath? Yes and when you have it out you can strip and recover the headliner with new fabric. What do you mean by "strip and recover"? I assume the headliner is the fabric, so recovering it seems to mean replacin...

Re: Another mystery part. Help!

Just throw it out, seriously. Supposedly it's designed to prevent water from entering the air intake, but I haven't had mine on since 2008. 200,000+ miles and through thunderstorms, downpours, and snow, no issues at all. I know many others have just tossed it with no ill effects at all. If anything,...

Re: What is the function of the Oscillation Damper??

As far as I know it's just a weighted vibration damper. No maintenance needed.

Re: Is AWD to FWD a good idea?

scot850 wrote: 16 Feb 2022, 14:35 You can go to the extreme of removing the angle gear as well and leaving the collar in place. Some have done that with hose pipe clamps. That way you will get rid of basically all of the AWD driveline.
Extreme!
