That second video sounds like the power steering pump to me but its hard to be sure. Can you tell whether the sound is coming from the passnger or driver side of the engine bay?

... I'm pretty sure the subframe has to come off. You don't have to drop the subframe, you can go through the top. So it's a personal choice based on what tools you have on hand. ... I'm just wondering if it is possible to support the motor from the top with a brace and chains so that it tilts down...

For the center console a wrecked manual car is the best bet. I haven't seen Robert's work around but if he does something then that's more than enough to convinvce me that it's a good option.
