Broken fuel line clip to fuel filter

2000 V70 XC AWD. First, after reviewing advice on location of filter I removed 3rd row seat to access the panels in rear. No fuel filter there - it was behind the tank and easily accessed from underneath the car. Doh! Then, probably because I was in a hurry due to frustration from above, I managed t...

850 air intake replacement

The flexible rubber hose that connects the air cleaner box and the intake manifold in a non-turbo 850 was a bad design. It has to be bent almost 90 deg which puts a lot of stress on the outside bend. Holes eventually develop due to the erosive effect of air flow compounded by the heat and stress. Yo...

2005 S60 ABS Pump Motor Replacement

For some time I have had an ABS message - with trouble codes BTM0070 (pump motor supply voltage, faulty signal) and BCH0072 (pump motor, mechanical error). The online information that I could find suggested that the likely problem was a faulty Brake Control Module. At first the ABS message was inter...

Re: Loose vinyl on door panels

I have the puckering on every door on my 99 S70. It goes from the tangent all the way to the controls, not just a bubble. Whole thing is peeled up. Instead of replacing the vinyl or door, I thought I could take a piece of thin plywood, cut it to tightly fit inside of the door plate, idea being it w...

Re: Broken fuel line clip to fuel filter

Don't mean to be jumping on this thread. But had the same thing happen today to my brother's V70. (I think the boy just doesn't know his strength!) This leaked all over the place! Little red pieces of plastic came out of it... v70_broken_fuel_line_connec.jpg So we ended up using this fuel line...

Re: Oil filter is doing its job.... FULL of sludge

If this is a naturally aspirated car, then PCV failure usually causes vacuum in the crankcase. NA cars have a different PCV system design than turbo cars. The splatter on the valve cover looks like positive pressure, but as noted positive pressure would not normally result in lots of dirt getting in...

Re: P2 Cars: Blower Motor Replacement (How To)

I wanted to note that I successfully greased the bearings on my 2004 S60R with great success. Once you have the fan out, pop off the bottom cover and you will see this. Unplug the motor plug and remove the 2 Torx T25 bolts circled in red: https://s20.postimg.org/lz1t3qkrx/20170309_193134.jpg I was a...

Let's replace the door lock-latch assembly on a 2004 XC70, front passenger

This job is somewhat of a PITA, but if you are reasonably skilled you can do it. My wife told me her car was making funny noises when she opened and closed the driver’s door, and also if she tried locking the car using the button on the driver’s door. When I looked at it, the symptoms were that anyt...
