Re: 96 R manual swap: the hard way?

You can disconnect the wiring harness at the ECU box. Remove the two engine side parts of the ECM/TCM connectors and undo the ground under the pass light. Then it's just remove the fan and FI relays, etc from the radiator shroud and pull it all with the engine/trans. https://turbochuckcom.ipage.com/...

Re: 2005 V50 2.4i

Hi, It does sound like your symptoms could be that of a timing jump. I would check to see if your timing is on by manually cranking over the engine. To do this you would need to remove the plastic covers over the timing belt, and then remove the passenger side wheel. You can then take a 30mm socket ...

Re: 2005 V50 2.4i

I'll try and encapsulate what I think I read above, please correct me in anything I leave out- ... as I was an hour into driving it…, the car jolted hard- I mean it felt like the engine fell right out of it. It lost all power and lots of thick black smoke poured from the engine bay. The car does sta...

What killed my S70 T5M... Place your bets

So for those who don't know. My beloved 1998 S70 T5M died a slow and inevitable death at 323k miles. About 30k miles ago I started noticing brass/bronze flakes in the drain pan every oil change. She was down on power and burning a lot of oil. I did my best to investigate using non destructive means,...

Re: Flat plane vs. cruciform V8 explained

On the topic of a flat-plane V8, this is a really good overview of the design of the new "LT6" V8 in the new mid-engined Z06 Corvette. The most power out of a naturally aspirated (production) V8 ever. https://www.hagerty.com/media/maintenance-and-tech/heavy-breathing-the-z06s-lt6-is-a-love...

Re: 98 S70 - starts up then dies immediately

It is a turbo yes. It’s a T-5, maybe I should have mentioned that. It doesn’t say Intercooler on the trunk like other cars I’ve seen so I didn’t think it had one of those? I’m going to try first to jump the relay with a jumper wire that I’m about to YouTube the construction of and check to see if th...

Re: MVS Contributors - ads, ugh!

The only thing I’m seeing is an ad banner at the top of the screen that moves and blocks the controls menu and the logout button. Then just now when logged in there’s a translucent / frost banner at the top that kind of ghosts out text. It gets bigger and slides down the page. These were both on an ...

Re: Any clever idea to make the seat access to the trunk lockable?

Looking from inside trunk there are two red switches at each latch mechanism. Flip them and the bi-fold seats will not fold down. The rear armrest access hatch is still a problem though.
