This is a long report on my experiences with drain and fill of my Aisin AW50-50/51 transmission. This report may be helpful for other considering a drain and fill process. My 2001 V70 with Aisin AW50-50/51 automatic 5 speed had a rebuilt transmission installed at 168K miles. It was filled with Mobil...

Re: '88 240 down on power and getting really poor gas milage.
Update. Fixing this hole in the accordion tube has made a HUGE improvement. Pep is back, like I gained 50 hp. My guess is tape just gave up the struggle recently, and it was so hard for me to see the patch, as the tape was black, and that wasn't something I was looking at anyway. I was checking vacu...

Re: Long term results for 2001 V70 auto transmission drain and fill
Good to hear you are happy w/your results. Have you done anything to address the underlying issue - valve body and solenoid wear, varnish, and seal degradation? That would be helpful going forward, I think. A fresh fill starting to shift oddly that quickly is indicative of something a little more go...

Re: Bad to worse: Cleaned TB, now erratic idle and stalling
Rookie mistake. I'd mounted the TB 90 degrees from the proper mounting. Took it down, mounted properly, back in business. Let my stupidity help the next guy. Next time, maybe I'll take photos along the way to see how things were instead of relying on my memory.

Re: Clear vs. OEM headlamp lens
I have a 2000 S-70, headlights were very dim, tried different higher output bulbs, very little difference. I believe the inner reflectors were basically shot. Bought aftermarket TYC headlight assemblies, HUGE difference, like driving a different new car. However, one headlight wouldn't adjust up or ...

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad
Rubber is a place where the cost cutting comes back to boil you over. Volvo rubber seems to last 20 years plus and those turbo hoses are getting baked Even Volvo brand hoses must be suspect these days, to the point where quality aftermarket like do88 may be better. I bought Volvo brand coolant hose...

Re: Cherry Red XC90 D5 with 364,000kms
Sweet looking ride. The headlights look a little rough, ABL is really stellar for light throw when the assemblies are working correctly. Good news is you can fix the fronts for the oxidation and make them look like new. Bad news is after 14 years of use, the bulb reflectors are probably burnt. Guy i...
