Pearl Harbor personal observations
Fresh out of Submarine School, I reported aboard Pearl Harbor on December 6, '69, for assignment to the Pacific Fleet. On the morning of the 7th, the air raid sirens sounded to commemorate the date. I lived in a barracks on Ford Island, and had to take a launch to Main Base every day. We went past t...

Re: 2000 S70 radiator core support replacement need help.
Just as an aside, if your donor wagon is a vin 56 code, I would question the "R" designation; it won't matter for (most) of the parts you're after.

Re: 2000 S70 radiator core support replacement need help.
The screen handle is, in fact, derived from a drinking establishment ( one notch below Dive Bar status, RIP ) from that area; I used to work nearby, and the bartenders learned to tolerate us after we arrived from our duties much later than most Adults in Foggy Bottom. And they seemed to like the fac...

Re: 2000 S70 radiator core support replacement need help.
Fan and shroud are easier from the top, in my opinion ( not when bent, though ), and the radiator bottom mounts, so up from under. If you can just finish destroying the bent stuff, it may come out as one, but might be easier to handle in smaller chunks. Since the old pieces are headed for the recycl...

Re: I've got a benign cyst in my brain...
In my ongoing battle with the exceedingly rare form of cancer I'm fighting, I've been lucky enough to have been treated by the very surgeon who developed the procedure now in use around the world; follow up care is being handled locally by one of the finest Doctors I've ever known - and he's in the ...

Re: 2000 S70 radiator core support replacement need help.
Looking back, the only reason "R" showed up here was your mention of the donor car, and saying it was a 56 code; my '98 R is 52 code. Since your bumper, spoiler and air guide stuff is intact, it looks like the only things you need from the donor - aside from the tin and plastic stuff alrea...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Ok I found out that there is a gasket and o-ring for the coolant pipe. But I can't seem to find them on volvopartswebstore. Keeps giving me parts for a 4 cyl. I have to admit that I do have problems with navigating their site.... Kind of odd the shop would have the block naked, and not be able to f...

At some point you will have to have a hard look at the hood/fender fitment. That may give you an idea if more adjustments are needed.
In normal times, there isn't a lot of room to spare between the front of the motor and the fan stuff.

Wow you aind just kiddin, its a tight squeeze. Got it in, finishing final electrical reconnections. immediately after the accident I noted the starter would click only, guess I better figure that out before is all put back together The donor vehicle made it all possible, I could never have done it ...
