I've got a benign cyst in my brain...

I've been having migraines since early October. Three weeks ago I went in to my doctor, then a CT scan.

The CT scan showed

"8 mm hyperdense nodule at the foramen of Monro compatible with a
colloid cyst. No evidence of obstructive hydrocephalus at this
time. Neurosurgical consultation is recommended."

The neurosurgeon this morning said I'll need surgery sooner or later. He ordered an MRI for me (date TBA), and I have a follow up with him on Jan 10.

He said it's likely it'll be an endoscopic surgery, rather than skull sectioning. He said the cyst will never get smaller on its own, only larger. He said vision, balance, memory and migraines are common symptoms. I have the last two, but not the first two.

It's a serious surgery because the cyst is located just about in the center of the head, not easily accessible. It's not routine, but not rare either. It's common enough where neurosurgeons have good data on it.

This is really killing my memory. I get packages at my front door and I can't remember what I ordered. Things like that. So I suppose in a dark sense of humor kinda way, it's like Christmas morning for me whenever I get a package.

Currently this condition does not affect my parenting. I'm kind and loving with my son as ever, and we go through his homework and school schedule weekly.

Thanks to my son's help and my calendar notices, I haven't forgotten any birthdays, orthodontist appointments, or school. Etc.

Not sure if an Ovarian Cyst is of similar make up but a friend in CA right before surgery for removal found doctor Wu. He was having success treating cancer patients. Through his method of nutrition the Cyst solidified and dissolved. My best friend in high school and college had a brother that developed a brain tumor. This was in the mid 80's and he never fully recovered as he was not whole again. It was shocking and sad to see him in that state. Perhaps medicine has come a ways since then? Not married long and had a nice job as a Mechanical Engineer. I believe he is still alive today but had moved back home (parents) jobless and divorced when I last saw him.

Dr. (Tom) Wu (not of Steely Dan fame) charges $500 a visit, this was over 5 years ago and people flys him all over the country as some of the sick can no longer travel. I think he did a lot of research to find a cured for his own incurable cancer and so the book. My wife has a copy in Chinese which does me no good . The knife is always the last resort unless it continues to grow at a rapid rate and/or is in eminent danger of causing irreparable harm.

My own simple minded thinking: Basically all diseases are of a metabolic sort. Hereditary, congenital, environmental, injuries and lifestyle are all factors that contribute to where it affects the body. Where it affects the body is not always where it originates. The body is synergistic and one weak area can adversely affect another.

My simple minded thinking again: Cancer, Tumor are classified, given names have varying make up and properties but really it's inflammation and overgrowth regardless what its make up or how it got there.

MRI this morning with an IV for extra brain flavor and contrast. I chose Ramen Chicken flavor for that.

The tumor is what they thought it is.

My friend's step dad has been director of trauma brain surgery for several hospitals here for decades, so I'm trying to see what he says. Waiting to hear back from him.

I have good insurance.
