Used a jack to lift the knuckle so as to not overstretch the new control arm bushing when getting that ball joint stud through the hole. Still, a royal PITA. FWIW you can pull and inspect the CBV diaphragm without pulling the turbo. You have to basically lay on the engine but then reach in there and remove the three little bolts, they are maybe 8 mm? I've done it several times. Torn CBV is common on these cars with age. Even if it looks intact hold it up...
