Re: P80 "bastards" thermostat access (1999-2000)

You were too frightened to tighten the clamp because you bought one of those holy types; the ones that chew up hoses. Over here the auto stores sell those to the unsuspecting traveller. I am lucky enough to have a water/pool accessories store that sells these beautiful stainless solid clamps close t...

Re: Serious front of engine oil leak '04 XC70

The CVVTs themselves have a factory tolerance that is acceptable. I think jimmy57 quoted me 1.5 mm of axial movement as being the maximum. Once you get them off you'll be able to see what I mean. The CVVT with the most axial play will most likely be the one that was leaking. It's usually not that th...

AW55-50SN woes-easy to repair?

Car is 2001 V70 T5 has about 130K miles and has a blocked transmission filter. Car won't go forward or backward. The characteristic sound of a turbine from the transmission tells me the transmission pump is not getting fluid. There are no offered alternatives other than to get the transmission repla...

Re: AW55-50SN woes-easy to repair?

OK job is done. Hole was drilled in bell housing. I used a syringe with 80ml fluid twice to backflush any large pieces back into my 8mm hole then drain out. First I went to 8mm hole then poked my skewer through then felt resistance. Pushed a little harder until something gave way......I suspect this...

Re: 2002 XC70 SBD 672 Burgundy

At 330,000s replaced ECM with used one as car was cutting out for unknown reason then starting right up with no codes present. Managed to get a P0159 once which is ECM internal fault. Henry (Doublebug) assisted to clone my old ECM over the internet. I asked him to retain the new ECMs firmware as it ...

Re: Keep it or junk it?

mbrian200s explanation for the most likely failure here is the most plausible. A simple connector fault caused by fluid contamination. I bet that ATF was everywhere when that hose blew off and it creeps into the smallest places. Definitely do the electrical contact cleaner and then go through the ot...

Re: OE v's Aftermarket - Yet another thread!

I don't really think it's a question of liars or otherwise. The people working at these companies are like you and me and are involved with the daily operations of the business they work for. Very few of them go home to troll the internet and find ways to save money on parts and find the hidden secr...

Re: Re-programming key fob

And if it's a 2005 model as I stated in my previous post the DIM will inform that starting is prevented and starter will not turn. These are not the symptoms the poster has described therefore we need to move on from the key.

Re: Resetting SRS Airbag light after DIM repair and question about dealing with dealership

I don't believe the SRS light is in any way related to a faulty DIM. You probably have a true SRS issue which may render the airbag system inoperable if not dealt with correctly. Have the fault codes read with Vida/Dice and post up a screenshot of the Fault Trace in the Delivery tab. We'll try to he...
