1998 V70XC Door Check Repair (with photos)
Shortly after I got my V70 last summer the driver side front door check failed. It had been repaired before, but the work didn't last. It took me a little while, but last weekend all stars were aligned just right, and I went to work. Thanks to this site, I had great infos on how to take the door pan...

05 V70 spongy pedal after front brake job
Hi guys, This one really stumps me. I have done brake jobs dozens of times on P80 cars and I was expecting the same routine on the o5'. All I did was replace the rotors and pads. And as always I carefully pushed back the caliper pistons after sucking some brake fluid out of the reservoir. Now the br...

Re: 05 V70 spongy pedal after front brake job
Thanks Jim, I never had the brake lines off, so I see no reason to bleed the brakes. At least I never had to in the past. The way it worked for me in the past is that after installing the pads I would have to pump 3-4 times until the pedal got firm again. This is because of the extra travel in the p...

Re: 05 V70 spongy pedal after front brake job
You saved my day, Steve.
I just checked and sure enough, I messed up the springs. Fixed them and the pedal feels much better. I will test drive in the morning.
Thanks!!!

Re: 05 V70 spongy pedal after front brake job
This actually crossed my mind, but I dismissed it because I realized that I was starting to overthink things as usual. But I had left the reservoir cap only lightly screwed on for a few days. Actually I kind of forgot about it because I did a lot of other stuff on the car, tune up, new thermostat et...

Re: 1998 V70 XC: Is it worth repairing?
Lots of good info in this thread on how to get started in getting this car back on the road, but...OP said he knows less than nothing about cars. I don't want to be negative Nelly here, but this is not the kind of car for people with no skills ( I know I'm making an assumption here ) A 98' XC can qu...

Re: 98 Volvo V70XC white/ charcoal for sale, very clean
Yes, that's the one I have, I haven't seen it described as Mototec before. The XC still has the original cat just like you suspected. It sounds really nice, there is absolutely no droning at any speed. The quality is so so but for that it's fairly cheap. My indie had a bit of hard time with fitting ...

Re: Volvo Findings! (What have you found on Craigslist?)
How are your electrical troubleshooting skills? https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/d/1995-volvo-850-ev-electric/6542842748.html That is the strangest 850 I've ever read about. Very interesting. someone put a lot of time and effort into this. A conversion like this requires some serious engineerin...
