850 Glove Box Latch Repair

Based on all of the good information on this site I set out to repair my faulty glove box latch on a ’94 850. The hardest part of the job is sawing through the catch hoop or, as Volvo calls it, the brace. I used a largish screwdriver to pry the glove box door lid out “as far as was comfortable” so a...

How to flush Power Steering Pump

Read first- Disclaimer: I am adding this- typicall cover our A$$ stuff: Neither myself, nor anyone else associated with this thread including Matt or MVS are responsible for Any Issue related to this flush. Do this at your own risk. Evidently the Toyota Camry uses about the same pump as a Volvo doe...

850 sunroof headliner repair

My sunroof shade headliner material had come unglued to the point where it just hung down and hit me in the head if I closed the sunroof shade. Being creative, I shoved the whole mess back into the cover slot and kept the shade open. I think this may be a common problem with many Volvos since I see ...

Rear End Suspension Link Replacement 3516122

**Editorial Note** This post was largely a "Stream of Conciseness" writeup and much of the original writeup can and should be ignored. There is, however, other very good information in the thread. As I’ve mentioned before, I have had a persistent “clunk” in my rear suspension and a “wande...

'That time of year' seems to have arrived earlier this year, or am I just getting old? 1. Lubricate door locks. There is nothing worse than having to use the key to get into the car (Remotes sometimes do not work) only to find the lock is frozen. 2. Check the specific gravity of the battery as it ta...

Re: '95 850 Cruise Control points of failure?

It could be anywhere. Download the manual from here:

https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/downlo ... vo_850.zip

Once you unzip it see the file called cruise control system.pdf. It outlines a full series of tests that you can run from port B-2.

Re: Best OEM sound system for 850 sedan?

My 1997 854 GLT has either an SC-815 or SC-816, haven't had time to pull it and check yet. It has a bunch of bad bulbs including the LCD, and the drivers door speaker cuts out intermittently, fixable by blasting the volume for a moment, until it happens again. SAYS WHAT IT IS ON THE RADIO Option A:...

1995 Volvo 850 Auto Engine and transmission Removal

>>> Click here to download the PDF of this tutorial <<< Things Needed • Parts: my dealer charged me $140 for all the below including tax; FCP Groton didn't sell the bolts (you can try calling) but with shipping buying from them would've saved me $35 on the seals alone. They sell OEM seals I believe....

DIY: 98 V70 Brake Hydraulic Overhaul (Hoses, Seals, Parking)

DIY: Brake Hydraulic System Overhaul (Brake Hoses, Caliper Seals/Dust Boots) I just rebuilt my 1998 Volvo V70 Brake Hydraulic System Overhaul: Overhaul Brake Hoses, Caliper Seals/Dust Boots. While there I replaced the Parking Brake Shoes as well. My experience shows that after 12-14 years/100-120K ...
