Re: Parking Brake Failure

* Some people just yank the handle for all it's worth hard and fast so anything could have happened. Need to remove the cover and check the cable at the handle then work your way back. * "Need to remove the cover and check the cable at the handle then work your way back." Dude, why didn't...

Re: Parking Brake Failure

You can get swages at a marine store , too, like West Marine. That cable didn’t break from one pull. The last strand snapped when they pulled on it. You can’t break a cable like that in tension with hand forces even with the leverage of the hand brake lever. I would karmically buy the part and ask th...

Re: Parking Brake Failure

Yes to all your suggestions, but the most likely reason is a swollen or broken inner cable causing drag. To properly check it you will have to dis-assemble the rear brake on that side to check the cable so it is worth cleaning and lubing the mechanism while in there. With the cable disconnected, hol...

Re: Where to hook up smoke machine?

You shouldn’t have any smoke at the turbo or the evap T. Fix those leak, they will cause poor running,

The weep hole In the intercooler is normal and lets water escape from the intercooler

Re: Stalls while driving

You’ve got a vacuum leak or loose induction hose. Check the small ones under the intake manifold and the left side of engine for the evap purge. You can’t see them to check, they have to be removed.

Your T5 1999 😎😎😎 doesn’t have an idle valve. It’s all in the throttle body.

Re: Parking brake cable rubbing on tire.

It's supposed to be held tight to the rear arm with a cable holder, but they don't hold up too well for reuse.

I've used a couple long zip ties to retain the cables on my T5.

Re: Parking brake cable rubbing on tire.

Someone broke the Torx bolt that holds the cable to the frame.

Re: Parking brake cable rubbing on tire.

Did the mechanic use a Volvo part? If not, then this is likely a Pro-Parts Sweden or other aftermarket part. I had this issue on one of my cars as the aftermarket part had been made wrongly. The distance between the mount forward of the rear wheel and the hub was too short. In my case the wheels wou...
