The emergency release is along the rear quarter panel, inside of the door to access the tail light lamps. Look for a metal loop and pull it towards the back of the car.

To check for coils/spark plugs, just undo the injector connectors one by one, pretty much like this (or the coils, but injectors are easier to unplug)
