I'd be concerned with the internals of your engine based on the crud on your oil cap. You are already @ 286k miles with blow-by. Maybe an engine flush and PCV job should be 1st in line?
...you are going to need to spend some $ and effort to keep her running reliably.

Re: V70 2.4T - Timing Belt Service Interval - how far can I push it?
I would give myself a 6 hour block on that job. That’s time for breaks. Heat and crack off the 30 mm pulley nut before you take the belt off and recheck the timing marks. Make sure you have the big Torx to get the vvt hub bolts off and don’t overtighten the cam lock bolts. Just ginger tight

Re: V70 2.4T - Timing Belt Service Interval - how far can I push it?
What exactly do you mean by "engine flush"? Google "engine flushing". You will get tons of info, both for and against flushing. But if I wasn't clear enough, the crud on the top of your oil cap indicates pretty dirty internals possibly due to high mileage, little service and/or ...

Re: Mangefine Filter Installed w/ Pictures
Ok, I know his is an OLD post, but I'm curious what the long term / high mileage experience is with these filters? Jonboy From the amount of metal shavings in the pan of the 03 S80 T6 I encountered early this year when it failed I wouldn't recommend these filters. Just put several strong magnets in...

I’m not fast, I’m slow and methodical on my good days, on stuff like this.
Lately , I’ve been limiting sessions to four hours to keep my fatigue factor down.

Re: Honda Odyssey Question - YES, I know this is a Volvo forum, but....
I used to have a 2007 Honda Odyssey LX (until it was totaled).
Use Odyclub.com, great forum.
I wrote a whole bunch of DIYs in that forum.
PS: for parts, use either Honda dealer website (search around) or autohausaz.com (great for Japanese cars).

Re: Honda Odyssey Question - YES, I know this is a Volvo forum, but....
* Purchased a 2003 Honda Odyssey with 154K miles and it's around 240K and runs as strong as ever. Around 80K on a set of NGK Iridiums. Have installed those on other Ody's and Hondas. Really has been the most reliable and longest vehicle we have ever owned except for an 87 Integra. Just basic consuma...

There should be a great Forum for every make and model but none will reach the pinnacle of MVS.
Let us know what you find.

We have had a few Odysseys as the family hauler. 200, 2010 and now 2011, all been great. I second checking out odyclub.com also delete the VCM as step one. There's a huge mega thread on the forum. I didn't know about it and finally did that with some other maintenance this year
