Re: P0101 in cold weather only

It would be helpful if you had VIDA, as the generic P0101 can be either Volvo's "ECM-1210 Mas air flow (MAF) sensor - Flow Too High" or ECM-121B Mass air flow (MAF) sensor - Flow too low". In both cases, the ECM calculates how much the airflow ought to be, then it sets the code if the...

Re: P0101 in cold weather only

I would look in two places. First, some of the big air hoses can fail, especially if you have a lot of miles and your turbo is leaking some oil into the intake system. I would feel all around them, and check that they feel firm (not squishy) and don't have any tears or holes. Second, I would check o...

Re: P0101 in cold weather only

"I'm wondering if it's possible that there is a very minor vacuum leak somewhere, which appears in cold weather when the rubber/plastic contracts. Any ideas/suggestions?" Marginal leak in the intake manifold gasket that is only sufficient when the gasket is cold ... metal contracts when c...

Re: P0101 in cold weather only

I would also put the throttle body on the suspect list. The internal nylon gears could possibly be worn. In my experience with this type of failure it acts up in cold weather and will set DTCs for the MAF. The ECU seems to ignore the TPS which indicates a part open throttle plate that isn't returnin...

Re: 2008 S60 low beam bulb failure

Absolutely use dielectric grease, silicone grease or Vasaline. I just changed mine and resorted to removing the air box. It really is not that hard to remove and was actually faster. For the right side I have designed a tool for ease of removal. Sadly, I didn't even examine the sockets so I cannot a...

Re: 2008 S60 low beam bulb failure

YES. It's a royal pain in the ass and you WILL chew up your hand. Do yourself a huge favor and take out the whole airbox first to give yourself room. (The passenger side bulbs are even worse, and the rear break bulbs on our XC70 are a nightmare- we gave up and paid a shop to spend 20min+ getting a n...

Re: 2008 S60 low beam bulb failure

You honestly just have to mess with it a lot. The plastic (on ours at least) is super stiff and finicky- nothing really lines up and stuff snags and catches everywhere. It was a while ago when I did the replacements, but I have a lot of vague memories of having to bend and twist and force it more th...

hu5ker555: What bulb are we talking about here? H11 or H7 or other?

I empathize with your plight.

Re: front stabilizer bar replacement

Will a typical repair shop be able to handle this (Firestone?) The answer is no, they won't even have a clue of the torque settings and which bolts needs replaced. Search on local.google.com for european/volvo garage specialists, also on cragslist The best is to go with a Volvo bar $$$ the bushings...
