Re: 2008 XC70 -- Intermittent overheating and misfires
Can you specify which engine you have? I am going to assume a 3.2 6 cylinder Gasoline powered engine. For the 3.2 the PCV routes the vapors (and oil if its not working) to cylinder 6 first then 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 I would look at the PCV for a 6, 5, 4, misfire. Get the aftermarket part marked with FoMoCo ...

Re: 2008 XC70 -- Intermittent overheating and misfires
For my 2010 S80 3.2 I replaced the fan with an aftermarket continental unit and it works well. When I bought it it came with the controller but I believe that is no longer the case. I did shim the fan slightly so that it wouldn't rub. Note: if I didn't do this the plastic would have worn in eventual...

Re: 2008 XC70 -- Intermittent overheating and misfires
Thank you so much for sharing. You have new failure modes that I haven't seen on the Volvo 3.2 (Note: it is shared with Land Rover and I own one of each) I started a thread on the Land Rover board about 7 years ago and you are on the path to catching up on the deferred maintenance https://www.freel...

Re: Oil Anti Drain Valve for the P3 -- 3.0T and 3.2
Hey guy's thanks to TreverRhoads and pgill the Ford part works on the Volvo anti-drain back valve issue. I ordered the Ford part # (ML3Z-6A606-A) from https://www.fordpartspros.com (they have them in stock as of today, and they delivered it quickly i.e. three days from MO to Virginia) It arrived a f...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
I am just looking for a more comfortable ride. Lemforder don't make nice rubber
Also the price of both bushings is the same for the bushings. And prolly 20 bucks to get them pressed in.

Re: Oil leak behind timing cover - 2007 XC70 170k miles
I can't tell from the pictures what is causing it. What I do recognize is your TB cover looks like mine did when my CVVT failed. One of them failed, and my Indy mechanic suggested changing both, which we did. I took the car to my Indy, and he did the diagnosis by eye that it was the CVVT. Good luck.

Re: Oil leak behind timing cover - 2007 XC70 170k miles
I think it is smart to change the cam seals proactively when doing the timing belt in the 200k mile range.
For sure do the water pump too. Kids 02 S60 water pump bearing went last summer at 190k and nearly lost the timing belt.

Re: 2007 XC70 - Cooling Fan whine, replacement options?
The options for replacement are expensive and probably the OEM one is the only good one. I would suggest removing yours and lubricating it. I did mine last year after listening to it whine for 7 years and its been silent ever since. Someone on this forum did a short writeup on how to do it, its pret...
