'04 V70 "Try slow down - shift up " message
Just bought a "new to me" '04 V70 110K miles. Driving it home, when I got to operating speed the message above appeared. It went into limp home and would barely exceed 20 mph. I went to post the problem, and the first thing that came up was a post of my own concerning my previous V70, abou...

Re: 04 V70, N/A, serpentine belt, mystery to me
Special thanks to MDK and Oragex. I knocked off the plastic cover and found the 14mm bolt. I had the job done in 5 minutes with available tools, I may yet go for the HF tool. After 3 generations of engineers, "available tools" included a 1/4" breaker bar (a little sentiment there, I g...

Re: Radiator protection?
The fact that the cars are known to 'sink" is still further reason to provide some protection for the radiator. Making the job of replacement a little easier wouldn't hurt either.

Re: Used car prices in the future: up or down in a year?
As I prefer the "lower technology" of pre '05, I keep an eye on those. Until about a year ago, they were all sub $2500, except for very rare examples. Now, $2500 is the starting price and most at that price list a number of needed repairs, "must be towed" etc. Just noticed a very...

Re: Front wheel bearing '05 XC70 observations and a question
side question about the wheel bearing job: are we able to change the front bearings on the xc70's without requiring removal of the strut to knuckle bolts or ball joint? I really want to avoid doing either of those again I was able to do it. A "universal joint" socket made it possible to r...

Re: Are S60 fuel tanks steel? - 02 S60 2.4T
Here is a video on replacing fuel pump in steel tank car:
Please note that every so often he decides to go off camera, those are points that are really going to cause trouble and you would really appreciate video guidance.

Re: Sudden Fuel Pressure Loss '05 v70 n/a
The corrugated hose on the pump had developed a pin hole leak. and caused the original problem. I am confident that I patched that. Wrapped it with rubber and put on a fuel injection clamp. High pressure leak no longer visible.

Re: '08 XC70 3.2 Starts readily, runs a few seconds, quits. Throttle body wiring suspect.
Solution, first it is time for me to realize that I am still just a points and carburetor kinda guy and stick to my old Mopars. In any case after of hours of checking wiring, loose nuts, sensors connected, etc. etc. I noticed there were wires coming out of my air filter which I had not reinstalled, ...
