Re: 08 3.2 FWD driveshaft 172k mi: replace transmission seals too?
Dunno about the axle replacement but you're probably okay to not go in so deep to replace the transmission seal. Pass side axle slips in through the bevel gear before making connection at the transmission. Seal is right at the transmission/angle gear sleeve interface so bevel gear will have to come ...

Re: no rear wheel drive!
I brought up the mechanical check as I purchased a 2008 V8 Sport in 2015 and by 2016 I had already stripped out the angle gear. Check AOC pump and DEM for sure but if you can turn the driveline with your hands, you need to go no further. Were it not a V8, I would not have suggested trying this test ...

Re: Lots of issues, or one main issue?
Any chance you have the original battery in the vehicle? If yes, I would seriously consider replacing that as a first step given the nature of your faults. You can tell by the Volvo mark on the battery plus a WWYY code is stamped on the stop of the negative post. If this we happening to me, that's t...

Re: Replacing AC compressor - Do I need to add oil?
Might be something in the attached, at least for component capacities upon replacement. PNs are noted for oil, might be able to cross reference for viscosity (they're old PNs so you will need to find the replacement). The original 5/6 cylinder compressor is Zexel (Valeo now) with a front mounted sol...

Re: no rear wheel drive!
https://www.swedespeed.com/threads/2008-sport-not-so-sporty-now-angle-gear.309585/, sorry I did not see this until now. Not sure how much fun it'll be to drive a V8 as FWD, was not much for me (although it was spring in the PNW). If input shaft is stripped, only option is getting a nearly new or OE ...

Re: Transmission question XC90
I think the answer is in VIDA. I configured my 2014D to use the International catalog and I believe the change for the Diesel engine occurs in 2006. That year notes the D5244T motor with the AW5x and the D5244T4 motor with the TF-80SC. After 2006, all Diesel motors are mated with the TF-80SC, at lea...

Re: B8444S (V8) serp belt tools
Nothing specific, you need a cut down Allen for the tensioner if you replace it and some plugs to seal a few non pressurized openings and if you're really interested in protecting the hydraulic damper in the center of the tensioner while you do the job, the holder is nice to have. At the time there ...

Re: no rear wheel drive!
I replaced with OE exchange, see parts list used with representative pricing. You'll need the newer version angle gear with bracket, etc. Sleeve_AngleGear_08XC90_051016.pdf I also replaced most of the hardware, certainly overkill but what I decided to do at the time. Didn't use all of the exhaust ha...

Re: Volvo XC90 2003 - AntiSkid fix w/o Yaw reman
VIDA and a DICE will do this. A number of years ago I did not wait long enough after shutting the vehicle down before disconnecting the battery and somehow came up with an invalid sum value in the yaw sensor which required a recalibration. I did this successfully using my own VIDA and DICE. Per VIDA...

Re: Advice on buying a used XC90 model 2009-2014
Problem with the 2.5T is that it stops being produced in the US after MY06. MY05-11 is V8, otherwise your only "standard" choice starting MY07 is the 3.2 I6. I lament the fact that the 5 cylinder powerplant continued to be produced for the rest of the world until Swedish production stopped...
