Re: '05 XC70 Engine pull @ junkyard--any suggestions?

When the engine is in new garage - do yourself a favor and replace the rear main seal and exhaust manifold gaskets. Everything else is accessible, but especially RMS is a pain to do when the engine is in the bay.

Re: '05 XC70 Engine pull @ junkyard--any suggestions?

According to Haynes it can be done without disturbing the system...we shall see. I did that without emptying the A/C. You can see A/C condenser laying on the ga...

Re: '05 XC70 Engine pull @ junkyard--any suggestions?

Get a box or two of "OPK12 Rubber Vacuum Cap Assortment (90 Pcs / 6 Sizes)" on Amazon, they are very handy for plugging all kinds of holes, like in PS pump or transmission heat exchanger hoses.

Re: '05 XC70 Engine pull @ junkyard--any suggestions?

You're on track and received Odin's blessing! I did that in cold December as well :) Both wagons would not fit in garage, and for some things I needed them face to face, so often had to work with the garage door opened and snow blowing in my face.

Re: New to us 2004 XC70 with coolant in the oil. Likely head gasket, do I need to look out for anything else?

scot850 wrote: 26 Nov 2023, 17:04 Hopefully in this case it is a cylinder head gasket, but I would also look at the oil cooler for internal leak.
B5254T2 is a multi-layer steel gasket. Never fails.

Re: New to us 2004 XC70 with coolant in the oil. Likely head gasket, do I need to look out for anything else?

I mean I thought it was common knowledge that the cylinder walls are thin and coupled with an open-deck design lead to cracked cylinder walls especially if you WOT it each day for a long period of time. And while the 2.4t is nearly the same with the difference being crank throw, it's almost like it...

After years of negotiations, blackmailing and ultimatums wife has finally given up, so here I go: SharkEye 4WD alignment rack :) IMG_20231202_114209229.jpg IMG_20231202_114136604.jpg IMG_20231202_114123074.jpg IMG_20231202_114034581.jpg IMG_20231202_114014654.jpg I had previously used another UK toy...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

Vtl - is it actually a “rack?” Do the separate units at wheels talk to each other? Does the car have to be perfectly level, with no bumps to mess with wheel level and corner weighting? I should just look it up. Well, sort of. The bigger thing on rear wheel does have a couple of lasers. On points to...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

We save another 30% using Canadian pennies here! Yes I could have saved an additional 80% if I used 1p coins, however they are not made from bronze alloy of copper any longer and modern equivalents are subject to corrosion in harsh environments due to being made from copper plated steel You guys ov...
