You need to remove the air intake hose (the one running from filter box to turbo).

Re: Accessing hose clamps for turbo vacuum hoses
Yeah, these ones always crack and can be replaced with silicone hoses, no problem. They are here only for EVAP system vacuum. The TCV hoses felt to me like a bit different kind of hose. More rigid, maybe different rubber compound. If you don't have problem with turbo, don't replace them.

Re: Accessing hose clamps for turbo vacuum hoses
I went to amazon to find a picture of double joint pliers that proved to be very useful and found a double joint hose pliers! I wish I had them years ago when I was dealing regularly with all those small hoses hidden below other stuff.

Re: 2004 XC70 Drive Train Removal
The flange has two threaded holes that you can use to push the CV joint out. Upon separation clean the mating surfaces good and coat with grease lightly to prevent this issue from happening again in the future.

Re: General V70 XC70 years /5cyl.
Yes, oil flow lowers from cylinder 1 to 5, oil temp raises from 1 to 5. That's expected, because oil pump is on the crank pulley side. Both engines I took apart had the same cooked oil gradient. About 220k miles both. 1.jpg 2.jpg 5 cylinder turbo runs super hot. Engine compartment is cramped, ventil...

Re: Water in Transmission
The other method ain't so bad either. Don't remove transmission, just transmission oil pan(may require slight hang of the subframe). Remove the valve body, should be easy. Removing valve body with the transmission still in place is maybe 1/2 of work required to drop the transmission altogether. I d...

- air bubble trapped in the heat core
- heat core is clogged
- HVAC air distributor malfunctions (common at this age)

Re: Replaced thermostat- no heat, perfect engine temp
I just drive around with a jug of diluted coolant and top up when the low coolant messages comes in. Does not take longer than 20-30 minutes.

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
vtl if you have any wisdom to share I’d appreciate it. My wisdom, after I dumped more than a grand on finding a cheaper alternative to "expensive" Volvo OE fluid says: use Volvo OE. It costs about $60 for 4 liters in US, and healthy transmission always works best with it. How cheaper than...
