Re: Volvo 850 1996 GLT. Alter 1 or Alter 2 ?

Those holes are for fog lights(spot lights). They were introduced in '95 with top equipped models and T5....up to '97 (including '97). "Alter 1" have different headlights, side lights, bumpers, fog lights and tail lights. That rectangular holes you have are just vent holes.Fog lights(if equipp...

Re: Volvo 850 1996 GLT. Alter 1 or Alter 2 ?

Part number 28 has ben posted about a few times over the last year or so - maybe for an alternate market but it seems nobody knows what it does. Including some who have purchased it! :) So don't bother with that. Otherwise I can only speculate: I've never bought an air guide (26) from the dealer but...

Re: Volvo 850 1996 GLT. Alter 1 or Alter 2 ?

They are hard to find at the junkyards here as most are trashed by owners running them ito the concrete stop blocks in parking bays an breaking the rear tab off and scraping the crap out of the bottom of them so they warp badly or are just plain hanging on for grim death. I have only found one good ...

Re: Volvo 850 1996 GLT. Alter 1 or Alter 2? For Air Guide

I would get the clips #18. p/n 1202841, superceded by 30624275, looks like FCP has them for $2.29. They are cheap and you need them to hold the front up. Don't forget the 2x #30, the bolts at the sides. It's a flange screw, pn 985743 that Volvo lists at $2.67 each. I don't know about the louver #32....

Re: Please help me identify part number

You can go to a local parts store or “ FLAPS” and buy a rubber vacuum connector for cheap, off the shelf. They don’t need to be the 90 degree ones..someone already replaced the other one with a straight one It’s the connector for the thermostat in the air cleaner which regulates the vacuum to the co...

Re: 850 rear flexi-brake hoses. How to replace?

I doubt that it will fail...there is no stress on it like on front wheels(they don't move) and plus....that what you see is just a rubber shield, the main line is under it. I tried to cut one of these from old 244 caliper we had in the family long time ago just for curiosity....and i barely managed t...

Re: 850 rear flexi-brake hoses. How to replace?

I've replaced a couple of those because I was in there already, but I've never seen (maybe never heard of?) one of them fail.

Re: 850 rear flexi-brake hoses. How to replace?

I’m in the same boat, original hose and no desire/will to tackle it. They will probably be seized to hell. Yes you are correct there is a proportioning valve. And yes the hose you see is just a shield. If the inner hose leaks the outer hose should contain the fluid I believe. I’ve replaced my front ...
