Getting the joint apart wasn't easy. I don't see how you could do it without being destructive. There is a snap ring behind the backing plate of the assembly that retains the joint on the shaft. The backing plate is thin metal, I was able to wedge a small pick and a screwdriver through the bolt hole...

Thanks Neil, Abscate, and foggydog for your replies and helpful diagrams, links, and advice! Once I noticed the shaft was spinning as I was trying to tighten the mount nut, I stopped! Installed the parts in same order and fashion as I removed them (and as illustrated above). All is good. See pics in...
