As it turns out it was the CV axle, the thing just about fell out once I removed the bolt from the end. Runs pretty good for a 25 year old car. Once I got the axle back in and everything tightened back up I took out for a “test” drive, there is very little wrong with the engine, the shocks and strut...

Auto Trans Cooler line IS suitable due to stiff construction. Fuel hose and other hoses at the auto stores are too soft.
