Re: FCP Euro coupon code for 5% off
At the top right of every MVS page, there's a logo saying "Forum sponsor FCP Euro" . It's a link to FCP with code to tell them that the user came from MVS. I have that bookmarked and use that every time I visit FCP. When I also use that link every few hours while building a large order on ...

Re: I’ve almost given up, but then I saw this one..
A garage kept T5 from the original owner is a good find. I paid almost that much for a one owner T5 (albeit a manual) at a risky local auto auction. I hope it includes service records (from the dealership?) and the original window sticker would be a nice bonus. How much do feel like doing your own w...

Re: I’ve almost given up, but then I saw this one..
Great job getting the car. And the original sticker too! When someone keeps the original sticker, it tells me they care that much more than the typical car owner. Get any issues sorted, do the preventative maintenance that abscate recommended (and a monthly check of tire pressure and bi-monthly chec...

Re: Restoration: I Bought the Cheapest Running 98 V70 T5M (2023)
Check the short cable between the large cylinder and small one on the starter. It corrodes and breaks. Terrible design to leave a weak spot like that when everything else seems solid.

Re: I’ve almost given up, but then I saw this one..
I'll give my typical advice to people (seemingly) new to working on old Volvos: Get the Haynes manual for the 1998-2000 S/V/C70. It has most basic and intermediate procedures and even some advanced ones, torque values, pictures, and more. Mine is hard cover and is written in British English, so some...

Re: I spotted a Volvo! thread
At a local European mechanic, I saw a lovely P80 V70R with jeweled headlights and clear corners parked next to a P2 XC70 (and a P2 sedan which didn't fit in the picture). Days later, I attended a local Volvo meet up with my only functional Volvo, the slowly recovering Geronimo. I wore my MVS t-shirt...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Spent this past Saturday at the LKQ yard in Greensboro NC to harvest an M56 swap. The car hit the yard 2-3 days before I got to it but was completely intact when I got there :). Feel bad for the donor car, it is a 1998 S70 T5M https://www.lkqpickyourpart.com/inventory/greensboro-1226/1998-volvo-s70...

Re: Voltage regulator for 1998 V70 100 amp alternator
Thanks. I'm surprised to see FCP has the Bosch part. Last time I checked, I'll swear it wasn't there, causing me to buy an entire rebuilt alternator to ensure I got it right. Good thing I haven't installed it yet.

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad
I just received this Volvo brand front wheel bearing dust shield labeled as made in China. Just 9 months earlier in 8/22, I bought two labeled as made in Germany. Both came from FCP. And yes, the 5/23 Chinese one cost 35% more than the 8/22 German one due to inflation. No cost savings from the suppo...

Re: Rescuing Geronimo the 2000 V70
Sunroofs are great in theory but always leak, so I'd prefer not to have them. The gap in this gasket explains why I hear so much air rushing in at highway speed. I'll try to find another sunroof in a junkyard, but would likely have to patch up any slight rust that it might have. Then remove the head...
