Re: It's time to start bulking up on 850s

Nevada makes good contributions just like you. Let's realize that we all actually like each other and get back to stocking 850 parts.

Re: Skandix group buy October 2021

Thankfully, FCP has that Skandix exhaust hanger bracket and a few other aftermarket versions. I recall having seen many other Skandix parts only available from them, yet can't think of specific examples. Maybe the 740 and 240 guys need this info for the classic parts they offer. ( I can't because I'...

Re: Rescuing Geronimo the 2000 V70

The used throttle body worked! As instructed, I connected it electrically without mounting it. It clicked and hummed as expected. After 18 years with this ETM, I finally know what it's doing when it powers up. https://youtu.be/OzYM753T1V0 The throttle body wiring harness was rather easy to disconnec...

Re: Rescuing Geronimo the 2000 V70

With the new throttle body, Geromino idles smoothly, revs easily to 3000 RPM, and doesn't surge after a quick tap on the gas. Its pulleys sound horrible, so they'll all be replaced with the timing belt. I used a stethoscope on the aftermarket alternator pulley shaft. Should it sound that rough? The ...

Re: red 98 v70: need a name for my car

Like the red color on a weather radar image, I recommend calling it "Severe". Kinda cool not using a noun as a car name.

Re: Re: Tailgate struts for V70

I just got Stabilus for my 2000 V70. Now when opening the trunk, I have to quickly move out of the way so it doesn't uppercut my jaw! I spent the extra money to have long lasting parts so I don't have to remove the plastic again any time soon. I ruined the plastic piece around the trunk ceiling ligh...

Re: 850 Rear Brake Repair - AGAIN - Tips

I've said this before, I'm fairly certain that the rate of a chemical reaction doubles for every 10 deg rise in temp, so hot dragging brakes rust a lot faster. I want to thank you for this thread, especially the above quote. Your posts all those years ago helped give me the confidence to tackle my ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

It was P80 day at the junkyard today. Along with these wagons was an S70 and the wagon I was picking parts from. The owner was scrapping the one I used, so maybe he decided to scrap these others too.

Re: STARTER

Remove and charge the battery on a good, slow (2 amp) charger for as long as it needs to register a full charge. Might take 4 hours, might take 24 hours. That little wire carries a lot of power and is super important. It eventually corrodes and breaks, killing otherwise good starter motors. Don't tr...

Re: STARTER

Whichever starter you use, that little wire must be intact. Examine it closely to see if it's corroded and ready to fail. When I had a "no start" condition, I read tons of threads about it. Here's every lead I found back then. Research them to see what you might find. Hold the key on start...
