Re: A better way to order obscure parts
usparts.volvocars.com is offering 20% off service parts from 1/17/22 through 1/23/22. When you use local pickup at your local dealership, it may also give you the automatic 10% off for doing so. This may be for oil change and other consumable parts which we likely get from FCP. You never know, there...

Re: Is there a factory service manual?
The Haynes manual includes torque specifications for a majority of work done by a DIY user. I did my first timing belt job on my 2000 V70 thanks to the Haynes, torquing everything to spec, supplemented with pointers and tricks from the forum threads. Each chapter focuses on a specific section of the...

Re: 1998 V70 Upgrades Finished
How many hand-built limited edition wagon conversions actually have third row seats? Apologies to all collectors of wacky wagons, but that feature alone puts this miles ahead of others.
Always glad to learn about a new wagon. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Is there a factory service manual?
The only system which I've found listed as "beyond the scope of this manual" in Haynes is the air conditioning system. I think some transmission internals are also skipped. And yet, they have a full engine removal and tear down chapter. Before doing any job, I'd review the Haynes and searc...

Re: Get Volvo DiCE instead of knockoff?
Looks like I waited to long to buy a genuine DiCE. I read that on 1/1/22 Volvo increased the price of this (and all special tools?) by 25%. In 9/21, I saw DiCE for $480 on dealer parts sites and $550 at Tasca. Now it's $590 at VolvoSpecialTools.com (which appears to be the official source of Volvo t...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
I would replace the rack with the best one I could find. A $1000 Volvo branded rack seems cheap compared to loosing your steering at speed. And if the car ever needs to get junked, you could try to resell the Volvo rack since you know it's quality. I feel this resale value applies to all parts which...

Re: 2000 v70 ABS turns on without touching brake
I am having a more extreme version of this problem, documented in this thread . Carefully and completely clean each tooth of both reluctor rings and that should stop the ABS engagement while coasting. I bet there's grease in one so the car is getting a bad read on how fast that wheel is spinning. I ...
