Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Have to say goodbye to an old friend tonight. There is small price in pain compared to 16.5 years of Joy…. She has travelled with me from VA to Chicago to Boston for the last 18 months. Best car dog ever!! Sorry to hear about your loss. It's great to hear you go to spend so much time with her for t...

Oetiker clamp information

Oetiker clamps used on a 2000 V70 NA FWD automatic: The measurements are estimated diameters of hoses/boots in place on their fittings. They were found by measuring the assembly with clamp and subtracting 2 mm (1 mm clamp width on each side). Axle boots - Front left: Outer boot large = 91 mm, Oetike...

Re: I spotted a Volvo! thread

Look closely and you'll see the rear window is the original wagon tailgate. The two silver things above the b pillar are the original tailgate hinges. Probably still have the classic broken wiring. The owner sourced another tailgate for the actual tailgate. Looks like black plexiglass rear door wind...

Re: For Sale 05' Volvo V70, base, 5-speed manual, mistral green tan, 157k

If you can, hold out for the right buyer. I should probably give up on waiting for an interestingly colored P2 V70R 6-speed and just buy this. However, I've spent so much restoring my 2000 V70 that I am inclined to keep it for a decade. You'd likely get a good amount selling it on Cars And Bids. It'...

Calculating the dollar value of car usage

How can we calculate the dollar value of using our cars? Is there a specific number of dollars per miles driven? We pay to purchase, maintain, insure, and put gas in the car. We lose value through the car's depreciation. We spend our time maintaining the car, which can be assigned a value. Do you si...

Re: 1998 v70 GLT, sunroof replacement

Here are two posts I did about sunroof and trim removal: Sunroof trim removal Sunroof, headliner, etc removal I never finished creating a tool to remove sunroof trim. Something has to slip under the hooks built in to the plastic, but it must come in at a tricky angle. Take time reviewing those posts...

Re: Lowest price 850 I've ever seen (Hot Wheels)

But wait, there's more! New for 2022, Hot Wheels made a 240 drift wagon ! It has dogs in the back!! This may be the first time I've used bold on MVS and it's totally worth it. Since Hot Wheels has created this new mold, they will likely release it in new colors for the next two years, so keep lookin...

Re: Rebuilding and painting my calipers

It's good timing that this topic got a post after nine months because the powder coating on my calipers was just completed! They sat for six months at a powder coating shop which couldn't do them so I picked them up. Then I got too busy to find a new shop. I finally found a great shop an hour away, ...

Re: Power steering rack brand opinions and experiences, Feb 2022

Are the ps racks identical on all FWD p80 models or were there different suppliers? Here's the SMI rack hexagon at the base of the steering shaft. When looking from the front of the car to the rear, right above the hex is a tiny raised logo "SMI". This also may be a good illustration of w...
