Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Took her out on her first road trip since getting everything buttoned up. 50 miles of secondary roads where I could start the break in process. Ran flawlessly. Never a CEL or anything to even indicate that all the work had been done. Can't open it up yet of course, but I can tell that it's all there...

Re: Wagon rear wiper doesn't contact glass
It's usually the hinge that rusts up. I spray it with penetrating fluid, work the arm out (away from glass) and back towards the glass. Try to spray both sides of the pivot pin, can get to I side easily with arm completely away from glass.

P80 Windshield and Headlight washer pipework
This may not be a totally correct guide to these system as I am finding difficulty finding information on 850 models and it has been a long time since I worked on these systems on those. It will be close but feel free to correct if you have an 850 or even a V/C/S 70 P80 and correct. This was prompte...

Re: Oil consumption and the dealership diagnostic process
FIREFOX, If you review the Technical journal from Volvo that looks at oil consumption you will see how they evaluate the oil consumption. Let me summarize what I would do if I were your relative 1. Rebuild the Vacuum pump (Volvo has an excellent rebuild kit, I recommend you start there) 2. Evaluate ...

There is a picture here: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=58194 I have been monitoring the fluid levels weekly since then and topping up as needed with 'high mileage' ATF fluid, w...

Re: Good ground point for radios in V70 dashboard?
All the grounds run through the big colourEd connectors. I would ground to the two side ring terminals, I think.

Re: Power steering rack brand opinions and experiences
I bought a rebuilt rack for my 850 back in 2012 from Rack Doctor. It's worked flawlessly ever since.

Re: Bought some Perfo wheels for my 99 T5
Your winter weather is a lot different to ours, and probably a lot less salt and de-icer on the roads. How has the paint held up so far? Thanks, Neil. I painted the calipers in Florida, which is where they spent about six years. The car's been in Virginia since then. This is what they look like tod...

Re: Power steering rack brand opinions and experiences
Just adding my 2 cents. RackDoctor is not friendly. I called him and simply asked him if he offered a particular service (just wanted the pinion seal done), and he started foaming out the mouth swearing at me. And I was being a stereotypical polite Canadian about things. I had heard horror stories a...

Re: Rescuing Geronimo the 2000 V70
It's like shaver blades, more is better. I buy the ones with 6 prongs.
