Maybe it's just me, but this 0W-30 oil is impressive in very cold weather
I'm starting by saying that the following is only meant for those who live in very cold weather, with temperatures below 15F (-10C) and alike. My small observation that follows can very well be flawed/biased. Still.. Want to mention, I'm in Canada, some products may not be available in other places....

Re: Busted control arm, needs new CV Half Shaft too… worth the work?
$750 labor only for that job is very, very expensive. A garage who works on Volvo must be able to do this job in less than 2 hours for both sides. You can even find a video on Youtube with FCP I believe, the video is not continuous, but clearly it's not a 5h job or so. They are ripping you big, big ...

Re: Busted control arm, needs new CV Half Shaft too… worth the work?
Lemforder control arms and ball joints are on their way. Found a shop locally who said they'd install those and the CV assembly for ~$450, which seems reasonable. Can anyone tell me if this looks like it's in good enough condition or not? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Volvo-S60-V70-front-RIGHT-CV-AXLE-D...

Re: "03 V70 127K manual transmission mystery
At the Volvo dealer I recently had front end work; CV boot inner and outer one side, lower ball joints and control arm bushings all four replaced, axel shaft replaced and was able to drive normally for a few days. After 10 days the car would not go into any gear. This happened after backing down th...

Re: "03 V70 127K manual transmission mystery
The Service manager said he would reimburse the cost of the independent shop and my rental car, but I don't know what to expect going forward. Garages have a certain 'language'. Sometimes, when they don't want to work on the car any more for some reasons, they will either give you a large bill (i.e...

Re: 2012 S60 T6 AWD - Sitting around for 10 months
The PCV installed on 2012 and up Volvo cars (and also on other brands including Audi, Bmw, etc)) was badly designed allowing sudden and very high oil consumption from as early as 30000 to 80000 miles. If the car is fixed rapidly - the PCV box needs replaced with a new design - the engine will be fin...

Re: front stabilizer bar replacement
Will a typical repair shop be able to handle this (Firestone?) The answer is no, they won't even have a clue of the torque settings and which bolts needs replaced. Search on local.google.com for european/volvo garage specialists, also on cragslist The best is to go with a Volvo bar $$$ the bushings...
