Re: STARTER
Oh my God that is a NEW Starter I didn't install it, are you saying there is no repair, you mean I'm out 60$ for what some A hole did! i don't think you'd need a new starter, move the ground wire back onto the solenoid terminal closest to the wire (with a bolt over it) and see if that works. by no ...

Re: STARTER
Be careful with that short wire. When the solenoid pulls in it carries u fused high current 12V. It can’t touch metal anywhere.
If it’s broken off the terminals it is hard to fix. A $60 starter is a piece of junk I’m afraid, unless it was a Volvo one from a junkyard.

Re: STARTER
It’s not a ground wire. It must not touch ground or your car will catch on fire, literally

Re: STARTER
That is a dead starter. Either it was junk to start, or they ham-fisted the install and damaged that wire. https://turbochuckcom.ipage.com/webimages/projects/96%20Volvo%20850/deadstarter.JPG Mine burnt itself apart when we made a gas stop on a trip. Came out and nada. Not even a click. Luckily it wa...

Re: Click no start

Re: Click no start
Have you tried the starter bypass to rule out the ignition switch and wiring? You can also put 12 Volts directly into the small starter terminal with a wire by touching it to the poisotive battery terminal. Make sure you are out of gear and brake is on so you don’t run yourself over ( leave key out ...

Re: STARTER
Remove and charge the battery on a good, slow (2 amp) charger for as long as it needs to register a full charge. Might take 4 hours, might take 24 hours. That little wire carries a lot of power and is super important. It eventually corrodes and breaks, killing otherwise good starter motors. Don't tr...
