Re: Air conditioning issues
Did you measure the gap between the clutch & the AC compressor pulley? I’ll include a video. I’ve seen varying specs, but seems clutches cease to work once the gap reaches .60ish mm and beyond. There’s an awful lot of documentation & discussion regarding shimming the clutches on these. If yo...

Re: Air conditioning issues
There's a guy on YouTube, TexasCoder I believe, that shows replacing a clutch on an XC90 without cracking open the refrigerant lines. I don't know if this is even possible on the XC70 though, I haven't attempted it the way he shows. Supporting the engine from above and lowering the front of the subf...

Re: S60 Slow Acceleration
^^^ All excellent places to start. An inexpensive scan tool would possibly provide some answers as well. It may sound paranoid, but I keep a scan tool in every (running & insured) vehicle we own. They're like $10-15 and while they are extremely limited in their abilities with scanning P2's (&...

Re: '06 V70 upper shock mounts
Were your dampers leaking oil?
Or are you doing this to improve the ride in the rear of the car?
I've replaced several rear & front coil springs (they rust & crack over time), but never had a rear damper that was leaking. To me, if it ain't leaking, I don't mess with it.

Re: '06 V70 NA throttle response
These old Volvo's just "know" when you've been in there 'investing' in them. Get the job right & they tend to reward you, as you noticed, occasionally

Re: 2004 XC70 occasional shudder under part throttle
Does it feel akin to accelerating over a garden hose or extension cord? I’m going to say (without suggestions given from VIDA), DEM pump is on its way out. If so, this is a good thing! Much easier to replace than trans. Get the car in the air & run it in gear to test for AWD function. On our 04 ...

Re: Considering an trans-plant on a 280K 04 XC70
I'm getting ready to service front and rear haldex units for the occasional 'hose skipping' symptom and I think having the driveshaft out would make life easier. Am I wrong? Greg, long answer below, short answer here. Just kidding. A lot of this I've learned in hindsight after multiple times with 3...

Re: Got a problem!
Had to laugh, first time I read it I thought you said you had your wife under the car trying to push up from underneath. Does your 06 only have one hood strut? My 06 has but one & it drives me absolutely bonkers. All the other cars have them on both sides, and you know as well as I which c...

Re: To strut or not to strut
Spring seats like the others pointed to. One time I had an abnormal & random steering pull. It turned out one of the tie rod ends (original & unmolested by me) nut had loosened just a couple threads. Just saying check that nut before you go ordering tie rod ends. (Edit: not the jam nut, the ...
