Re: ICE vs. EV Poll
Electric vehicles will not dominate the US market because the US has many large, open areas to travel. Electric vehicles will need to overcome the slow 'refuel' rate compared to conventional refueling. Until both types are near equal, in areas where vehicle trips may be hundreds of miles in a day or...

Re: Hose off air cleaner lid
I think it is more likely you have an air intake leak than a fuel pump failure. The filter change is just good routine maintenance and I would do this on a newly acquired vehicle. As JimBee said, look for leaks in the air hose from mass air flow meter and any of the many vacuum lines. Unmeasured air...

Re: Unknown part with disconnected hose
It looks like the hose attached to the device in the second photo is near to failure. The hose diameter change at the end of the hose nipple is showing failure cracks. It would be good to replace now before it fails. Soap Box Rant Alert! Everyone attempting to service a modern vehicle should periodi...

The problem: Occasionally I would find the floor mat wet on the passenger front footwell of 2001 V70. Initially I checked the carpet under the rubber mat and found the carpet felt dry. I made the wrong assumption that the rubber mat was catching the drip as it fell from somewhere under the dash. Lat...

There is an oring that makes the seal. The tools are common but are various sizes. They don't cost much. You can do this with a smal...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Well, I have learned something today. I did not know about solder sleeves. I think I need to upgrade from crimp connectors, which are prone to corrosion.

Re: Volvo 850 T5 boost issue
The pressurized intake tube from turbo to intake may be loose. The extra boost you enjoyed, may have partly blown off the tube. Just reposition and tighten the clamps.

Re: S70 Engine
Call me a red neck, but if it runs ok and looks ok, I can carry oil and put in oil every 1000 miles. At that consumption, it likely still does not embarrass you by smoking on acceleration.
