I have not tried it, but the relays are said to often be repaired by resoldering all the internal connections.

There are multiple part failures possible. Start troubleshooting. Check fuel pressure - it should be about 55 PSI. Check with a gauge at the end of the fuel rail. You know more than I do, but I think the 220, 240, 300 were similar mechanically. At some point wasn't there a 5 or 6 cylinder diesel? It is good practice, regardless of brand or application, to check all new spark plug gaps with wire spark plug gauge.
