Perfectly good parts removed: What do you do with them?

When performing preventive maintenance like a timing belt you know is overdue for replacement but is showing no signs of any problem, what do you do with all of the perfectly good parts you remove from the car? When I do a timing belt, there's no way I'm not replacing the water pump, idler and tensi...

Re: Timing Belts, Luxury and Tears...

Well, I almost hate to admit it, Mr. Sixteen Times in Two Days, but your technique is what finally got the belt on, though I came up over the tensioner last because it had no teeth to align with. In the end, everything looks right , and the timing marks look good, but if there are issues in a few da...

Re: Heater hose replacement Non-OEM KINKY

As usual, Robert has an answer. One option is the silicone hose do88 kit sold at IPD and FCP.

Re: 1998 Volvo V70 Emissions Code P0442 - minor leak

The smoke test was what finally found my leak in an area I had already visually checked. I built one out of a pickle jar and a soldering iron as shown on YouTube, but I think I've told that story before. Worked like a charm. Today, the torsion springs on my garage door both failed. Fortunately, I ha...

Re: Falling out of love with my P80 Volvo...

Well, those heater hoses are not leaking now, feel pretty good, and are Volvo - - - and are not the originals judging by the clamps, so, for now they stay. I did replace about four different vacuum hoses that looked pretty bad. I also replaced a fairly new lower radiator hose with a brand new one I ...

Re: Volvo Replacement ETM, ifixit repair link, 36050563 and 36050564 (Yellow 2005-2014) (white 2015- on)

www.precisioncarmodules.com ifixit repair link I find it odd that these links appear to be an advertisement for a business, but when you visit the site you are forbidden if you are using AdBlock. Doesn't strike me as a good sales strategy to block potential customers. Either you're making money by s...

1998 V70 Coolant Cap? Overheating? Something?

CORRECTION TO SOLUTION!!! The coolant cap was bad, BUT the real problem was that the coolant temperature sensor next to the thermostat was bad and reading low. NOTE #1: If you notice that your engine temp gauge usually reads exactly halfway up and suddenly stabilizes and indicates somewhat below hal...

1998 V70 Overheating Due to Bad Temperature Sensor

This is for the record in case anyone is searching with this problem. In a recent thread, I thought I had solved my problem with a new radiator coolant tank cap from Gates. The cap needed replacement, but the real culprit was a bad temperature sensor. NOTE #1: If you notice that your engine temp gau...

Re: 1998 V70 Overheating Due to Bad Temperature Sensor

I think it's exactly like an O2 sensor tool in design due to the wires, but I'm not sure if it is the same size. You can always just search Amazon or Google for an image.

Re: 850 Fan not operating completely stumped. Help!!!

Sounds an awful lot like the problem I was just posting about the temperature sensor below the thermostat housing. The Facet temp sensor is sold by FCP with many good reviews and is working so far in my car. They sell for about $18 on Amazon U.S. Neil, I'd question those Volvo OEM sensors. The one i...
