Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

My crazy homemade puller worked. The clutch fought for every mm and there were no signs of rust between the splines. I removed both shims and added some antisieze for the future. The clutch now sits at 0.4mm instead of 0.7mm. Test start confirms I didn't break anything. Apparently for the xc90 you n...

Re: 850 Front axle alignment issue

If you didn't touched adjustment bolt for tie rods....then NO....you don't need an alignment. I don't know if XC90 have a camber adjustment....850,s,v,c,xc70 up to 2000 don't have that...just toe in and out....and the adjustment is done at outer tie rods adjustment bolt. Definitely don't have cambe...

That's always a tough day. Sorry about your pup abscate. At least the final gift we can offer our faithful companions is an end to their pain and a permanent place in our hearts.

Re: It's time to start bulking up on 850s

I've often thought about what I would do if I couldnt source certain parts such as ECUs or sensors and so forth. I figure worst case scenario I could convert to use a haltech or megasquirt. Adapt some kind of aftermarket sensors. It is after all a lifetime project car. Improvise, adapt, overcome.

Re: headlight assembles

I purchased a set of brand less aftermarket assemblies from IPD and I like the quality. The light output with factory bulbs was not great but maybe I'm ruined by modern lights. It could also be the reflectors.

Re: It's time to start bulking up on 850s

I have started designing my own 3d replacement parts but it's slow going. My ultimate plan in the longrun is to rebuild the dashboard piece by piece. What file extension(s) do you work with? I'll open those up to uploading on MVS Forum. So far I'm using a mixture of sketchup and fusion 360. Sketchu...

Re: It's time to start bulking up on 850s

It says invalid file extension on all 3 of those extensions. If I really start modeling more parts, I may have to make an account of thingiverse and just link my projects here. Some of these files can get quite large. Sorry about that. I put those into a group, but didn't make the group "allow...

Re: Hosting 3D models of Volvo parts on MVS

Can someone explain to a layman the idea of 3D printing steel / aluminum car parts? I can see printing the shape in a resin, which becomes the master for a mold, where you then cast a metal part. But many have to be high strength, or even forged, to do their job. Or you print a plastic part with th...

Re: Parts to hoard for 1998-2000 S/V70?

I'm thinking of adding motor mounts to the my list. By the time I actually purchased the nice ones they will probably be NLA and I'll be forced to buy some awful aftermarket brand.
