Re: '00 V70 FWD: Fuse 27 keeps blowing - reverse lights / turn signal

For finding a short one uses the Ohm scale on the VOM. One lead goes to a known ground point on the car, the other to the wire being checked. I would unhook the battery and let it sit for a bit - maybe cross the two cables to discharge the system. You can use the voltage scale to figure your power l...

Re: Climate Control Module

No module will cause error codes, but should not cause any damage. If you have VIDA or another means to clear codes you should be fine. I don't recall the wiring, but it may trigger the SRS light (which needs VIDA or equivalent to clear).

Re: Haldex 3 AOC Pump Motor Rebuild

Did you ever check for codes? Did you use VIDA? What are codes if any? If you do not have VIDA or a "proper" scanner, try using the onboard diagnostic (do a search for your car) to see if the computer is communicating with the DEM - it is a very high level look, but a place to start. Ideal...

Re: Flying Blind

Agree with E Showell - DIM failure is pretty common. Most shops speedometer repair shops can fix your unit. Do some digging and you will find places that repair them locally. DIM unit easy to remove, there are videos out there on the process. Just unplug your battery first or you will have an SRS ai...

Re: Flying Blind

SRS light is usually an appropriate scanner tool reset - meaning the scanner has to be able to do it. Dealer works, but there are cheaper options. Most shops should have a scanner that will do it, but I would wait until the DIM is resolved. Look in the phone book equivalent for local speedometer rep...

Re: Need Advice

Fix the leak. Next check your fuses, both under the hood and on the dashboard door side panel. Keep your fiance away from your car unless s/he are fixing the leak and checking replacing fuses (and maybe a relay). You risk damage to the CEM, engine fires, power steering rack/pump, alternator and othe...

Re: Crankshaft timing

No. Crank if at its timing mark can only be in the correct place. Where timing can be off 180 degrees is when the cams are upside down. So on a Volvo the cam ear that should be below the line is above the line and vice versa - with properly used timing tools it cannot happen as the tools will not fi...

Re: 2007 2.4T or non turbo?

I did a quick search and came to the same conclusion - no 2.4T for that model year. I would ask seller to send you a picture of the engine and you can see if it has a turbo or not. There is also an EPA or manufacturer sticker with the engine information on it (assuming nothing has been changed). Peo...

Re: Can P2 / XC / V70 rotors be turned? Or replace?

My thoughts are if they can be turned and still meet spec and the price is right then turn them, assuming they are OEM. Turning is usually about $15 so it is a cost effective solution. Volvo designed the car and assuming the rotors are Volvo I would not hesitate. I trust a turned OEM rotor that is w...

Re: New to Volvo

I agree with E Showell - I had a 2002 S60 non-turbo and it was a great car.
